You Define Your Experience. It Doesn’t Define You.

Roll up your sleeves—or button them up even tighter. This is experiential learning at its finest.

Experience. It’s the one word muttered by CEOs, hunted down by HR directors, and dished out by anyone and everyone who thinks they’ve lived—and learned— more than you. Experience can be a gateway to success or the ultimate roadblock.

At Goizueta, experience can be gained in every aspect of the curriculum. You’ll find it in classrooms, in boardrooms, and in any room where there is space to grow. You’ll earn it through partner-projects with some of Atlanta’s most successful Fortune 500s. You’ll nurture it in leadership development activities focused on problem-solving and decision-making. You’ll discover it through relationships forged with peers and professors. You’ll gain it all across the world by breaking down global business beyond our borders.

Goizueta is where ambitious minds are given freedom and access to the type of discovery, debate, practice, proficiency, and imagination that lead to remarkable outcomes.

LEADERSHIP

In this world, there are traditional, by-the-book leaders, and then there are leaders who continuously develop and refine their own unique way of motivating and inspiring.

That’s why at Goizueta, the idea of creating principled leaders isn’t relegated to a single course or a passing notion; it’s infused into every aspect of your experience—through a robust curriculum, a variety of co-curricular activities, and immersive experiential learning opportunities. Goizueta’s emphasis on leadership development ensures you gain knowledge on how to lead a team, how to develop problem-solving skills, and most importantly, how to reflect upon your learning to cultivate an authentic leadership style.

Leader’s Reaction Course

One of Goizueta’s most popular programs, the Leader’s Reaction Course is held at the U.S. Army base of Fort Benning, GA. There, Goizueta students pull themselves up by their boot straps, quite literally, as they participate in a series of problem-solving tasks. The program offers an exciting, hands-on opportunity to apply team and leadership skills in a creative, collaborative, and slightly muddy setting.

Delta Leadership Coaching Fellows Program

Supported by a gift from one of Atlanta’s largest companies, the Delta Leadership Coaching Fellows Program allows MBA students to become peer coaches for first-year students in a collaborative space that promotes one-on-one and team feedback, and deeper self-reflection.

Goizueta Advanced Leadership Academy

Take your leadership skills to the next level: sea level. The Goizueta Advanced Leadership Academy includes speakers, training, and personal development sessions for holistic learning. The program culminates in an all-hands-on-deck academic experience that helps you explore leadership in various contexts while leading a sailing excursion in the British Virgin Islands.

Leader in Residence Program

Connect with academic and business thought leaders with significant senior leadership experience as they guest lecture in Goizueta classes, meet with students for career advice, and participate in panel discussions.

It’s time to cultivate your leadership skills in the most dynamic way, and place, possible.

These students are building skills by working with diverse teams under duress, which can be quite challenging.

GOIZUETA IMPACT

No course mirrors life in the modern business world more than IMPACT, Goizueta’s signature approach to MBA experiential learning.

In this program, students dive into the “how” and “why” of business, then partner with for- and not-for-profit companies to work on real client-centered projects.

It starts with a core session during Summer Block 1—where students learn about the fundamental principles and processes that enable companies to structure and solve problems efficiently.

Then, IMPACT 360: Client Project is introduced. Goizueta’s unparalleled access to the business community allows students to connect and collaborate with a wide range of companies—from Fortune 500s to international nonprofits to local start-ups.

Teams work on addressing critical client issues across all industries. For example, students have created social media strategies to help The Home Depot connect with millennials purchasing their starter homes. Others advised General Electric on how best to adopt more sustainable and profitable solutions. And others worked side-by-side with the American Cancer Society, The United Way, Beats by Dre, or countless others on innovative solutions across functions and industries.

Along the way, you will expand your network by working with expert business leaders and faculty who will help you to grow your skills and leverage their research, resources, and expertise.

IMPACT, at its core, is about three big skills: structured problem solving, persuasive communication, and leading and organizing the work of the team.

GLOBAL EXPERIENCE

As the world shrinks, and markets expand, doing international business is now just doing business.

That’s why Goizueta’s global focus lets you learn how to do business on an international scale. From South Africa to Brazil, Thailand to Nicaragua, students can step out of the classroom—and their comfort zones. Led by faculty, Goizueta mid-semester modules explore a wide range of topics in international settings.

I’d never traveled abroad before. I knew when starting my One-Year journey, that I wanted to be a part of an international Mid-Semester Module. What better way to stamp my passport than with my classmates?

EVENTS AND CONFERENCES

Convening should go beyond convention, which is why Goizueta ensures confer¬ences and events held by the school are meaningful, relevant, and impactful for students. Students have met the Global Head of Commercialization at IBM Watson Health to pick his brain about the future of digital health. They’ve heard from the former senior national security advisor to both Presidents Obama and Bush—now the current managing director at Citigroup— on how his tours in Iraq prepared him to climb the ranks in corporate America. In each instance, connecting with business creators, idea generators, and captains of every industry means Goizueta’s dozens of academic events and hundreds of career and networking opportunities are far more than your everyday meet up.

#GoizuetaEngage

It’s no longer good enough to just start a conversation about gender inequality in industry and education—it’s time to take action. That’s why Goizueta hosts the annual #GoizuetaEngageconference, bringing together the business community to empower women with knowledge and confidence. Presentations, panels, and workshops are put together to help women advance in their careers.

Robson Conference

Policy issues involving business, government, and society can’t wait. The Robson Program for Business, Public Policy, and Government holds an annual conference to address these issues, with experts and panelists on topics ranging from financial regulation to global climate change.

Emory Entrepreneurship Conference

Goizueta, in conjunction with Emory Entrepreneurship Ecosystem, hosts the annual Emory Entrepreneurship Conference, which features keynote speakers, entrepreneurship panels, and even the opportunity for attendees to pitch their own ideas.
